Cancelled/Absage YBCCG Web Meeting
Democracy under fire – Why the Youth must stand up to defend it!
This Web Meeting is cancelled due to scheduling reasons.
Exclusive Young BCCG and Young Königswinter Web Meeting with Nathan Law
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic a lot of other important news have been buried in the past year.
However, a lot has happened all around the world: a new US-president has been elected, the election was followed by riots, a new Post-Brexit era in British-German relations has started and the Chinese government has yet again eroded democracy and independence in Hong Kong further with the enactment of the National Security Law on 1 July 2020.
Nathan Law is a local activist, who has been fighting for democracy in Hong Kong as one of the student leaders during the 79-day Umbrella Movement in 2014 as well as the founder and former chairman of Demosistô.
Chris Patten, the last British governor of Hong Kong, has described him as "a typically brave representative of a generation whose spirit the Communist Party wants to stamp out.”
The Young BCCG and the Young Königswinter Alumni would like to discuss with Nathan:
- His path into (political) activism and advocacy.
- The current situation in Hong Kong and China, and his call for actions.
- What Europeans should do to ensure democracy in Europe and other parts of the world.
