Webinar: A Virtual Evening with HSBC Germany
Members and guests of the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia Region and of the Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft, Düsseldorf are cordially invited to join HSBC Germany (“HSBC”) for a webinar.
The year 2020 will go down in history as a year of human tragedy following the COVID-19 outbreak. The fight against the spread of the pandemic has engulfed all our lives and whilst the start of the vaccination process brings hope for the coming year, it is also clear that there is still a bumpy road ahead in overcoming this crisis.
It is perhaps not easy to focus our attention on our economy but we can all assess that the world will be very different as a result of the fight against the virus and unanswered questions abound. Will the huge stimulus packages result in inflation or deflation as a hangover of government efforts to ameliorate the impact of the measures taken and indeed how will we start to pay back massively increased debt levels? Will central banks be able to exit the ultra-loose monetary policies anytime soon? Will the accelerated use of digital technology change permanently the way we work and interact with each other and disrupt entire segments of the economy in ways previously unimagined?
Fortunately, we have help with these questions and are delighted to again be invited to hear the views of HSBC’s Germany Chief Economist, Stefan Schilbe. Herr Schilbe will elaborate on the current economic environment and in perhaps the most challenging of circumstances once again cast his look forward to economic development and possible policy responses in the coming year.
Programme:
- 18:00 – Welcome – Michael Schleef, Member of the Exec Committee HSBC Germany
- 18:10 – 18:45 “ No easy exit”. Speech by Stefan Schilbe
- 18:45 – 19:15 Moderated Q&A
