British Embassy Update for UK nationals in Germany

There are now less than 3 weeks to go until 30 June 2021 - an important date for any UK national who was living in Germany before 1 January 2021.
Please find below information concerning actions that UK nationals in Germany should take on residence and driving licences before 30 June.

Residence:
UK nationals in Germany should report their residence to their local foreigners authority (Ausländerbehörde) by 30 June 2021. Anyone who has not yet reported their residence should take action now.
For further information on how to proceed, please take a look at the residency guidance.
While missing the deadline will not lead to a loss of Withdrawal Agreement rights, having an Aufenthaltsdokument-GB in the future will make it easier to prove that you hold those rights. You’ll need to do so in various situations, such as when travelling internationally, applying for jobs or making benefit or pension claims.

Driving licences:
30 June is also the date by which UK nationals who were living in Germany before 1 January 2021 must have exchanged their UK driving licence for a German one. If you haven’t done so yet, you should take action now.
Find more information on driving licence exchange in the Living in Germany guide.
