UK Immigration update for German businesses-
Briefing on visiting the UK for business and the introduction of the UK’s Electronic Travel Authorisation Scheme (ETA)
Date: Tuesday, 12 November 2024
Time: 10:00 h – 11:00 h CET
Location: Online via MS Teams
Since the end of free movement, German visitors to the UK have to ensure they abide by visit visa rules while they are in the UK. This includes rules surrounding what activities they can carry out, how long they can stay in the UK and what payment they can receive from UK source whilst they are in the UK. These rules are often quite confusing and difficult to interpret, leaving many visitors uncertain about whether they can travel to the UK to carry out their business trip.
The UK is also in the process of rolling out its own Electronic Travel Authorisation Scheme or ETA. All visitors from the EU will require an ETA before they travel to the UK from April 2025. This will mean that all travellers to the UK will have to make some form immigration permission when they arrive at the border.
With these major changes on the horizon, Joanna Hunt, a Partner and Head of Immigration at DAC Beachcroft LLP, will be hosting a webinar to take you through the visitor rules in more depth so you can understand how business travellers can stay on the right side of the law when visiting the UK. She will also take you through how the Electronic Travel Authorisation Scheme will operate and what you will need to do to apply for one.
Joanna Hunt is a lawyer and UK immigration expert having worked with businesses from SME’s to big multi nationals providing them with immigration support for the past 12 years. She is a member of the Law Society’s Immigration policy committee and presents on immigration issues both nationally and internationally.
