North Rhine-Westphalia
North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is considered the “economic powerhouse of Europe” and, with around 18 million inhabitants, is the most populous federal state in Germany. The region is an important location for industry, business, research, and international companies. The state capital, Düsseldorf, plays a particularly important role as a centre for trade, culture, and business and is considered one of the most liveable cities in the world.
NRW is one of Europe’s strongest economic regions and is particularly known for its powerful industrial sector. Traditionally shaped by coal and steel, the state has developed into a modern business location with key industries such as chemicals, energy, mechanical engineering, logistics, technology, and services.
